The Bells of Durham Cathedral

As a grad student years ago at Durham, I never grew tired of the cathedral bells. The ringers would practice on Thursday evening and run their regular routine on Sunday afternoon. I lived just across the street from the cathedral at St. John’s College, so we got the full blast. For me, it was a deeply uplifting sound.

Here’s a short vid of the cathedral and bells from December 2009. There’s snow on the ground (fairly unusual) and the video is shot from the river on the west side of the peninsula. Enjoy.
