Fire Janet Napolitano – Now

By now we’re all following the Nigerian ‘panty bomber’ and his failed attempt to bring down the Northwest Airbus over Detroit. Kudos to the passengers who took prompt action – I hope they gave him the beating he deserved.

What’s more interesting, however, is the pathetic response of Janet Napolitano and the TSA to this near-miss. First, she said that the “system worked” – meaning, as she explained it, that the crew and passengers took appropriate measures.

Faced with criticism and peals of satirical laughter, she later admitted to Matt Lauer that the “system failed miserably”. Here’s Incompetano talking to Harry Smith today about new procedures, which apparently include confining passengers to their seats during the last hour of a flight and forbidding them from having anything in their laps.

Here’s the problem, Janet. Every time you impose a new set of “procedures”, you further inconvenience all of us without making us any safer. A suggestion: the purpose of “procedures” is to identify and catch bad guys, not punish the innocent.

And to catch bad guys, you have to eschew political correctness and start calling them by their real name. In case you haven’t heard, they’re called “Islamic terrorists”.

In fairness to this administration, however, this nonsense began with Norman Mineta, who misapplied his own personal experience as a WWII internee to the flying public. We were appalled then and we’re appalled now.

But back to Janet Napolitano. Someone this lame doesn’t deserve to live, much less serve as Secretary of Homeland Security. It’s time to go.
