Sen. Olympia Snowe Buys into the Fundamentals of ObamaCare

Sen. Olympia Snowe – my senator – sits on Max Baucus’s Finance Committee and is at the center of what passes for a Senate brain trust on health care reform.

Attached is her reply to my letter suggesting that health care reforms should be firmly grounded in the private sector. As you can see from the letter, the Senator voted for Porkulus and even boasts of her support for America’s version of the British NICE, which will centrally control what care we can get based on some bureaucrat’s notions of “comparative effectiveness”. Apparently, she thinks that members of Congress can actually engineer a “solution” and given her history of cooperationism, she’s by God gonna try. She waxes positively lyrical about their collective efforts: “Rather, we are on the cusp of at last achieving the enactment of broad health reform to assure that health plans better serve the public while preserving both choice and innovation.”

Barack Obama couldn’t have said it better himself.
