Homeland Smear Department

Our brilliant Homeland Security Department has issued an unclassified and vaguely-worded ‘report’ warning of ‘right-wing extremism’. This nine page revelation is labeled ‘for official use only’ and is, according to Drudge, being distributed to police around the country.

Being public spirited, I think we should all have a chance to find out what danger we’re all in, so you can download your own copy here. Judging by the amount of the web traffic this is generating, it may well be a major story by day’s end.

The report defines right-wing extremism in the U.S. as ‘divided into those groups, movements and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups) and those that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.’

Nice to know that people who oppose abortion and illegal immigation are on a par with the white supremicist crowd.

Awesome, so the entire basis of a federalist system, ie, favoring state and local authority over federal authority, is now considered to be extremism. So I assume that means that if the founding fathers were alive today, it would be the U.S. government rounding them up for extremism. But didn’t the British try that?
